Excellent US Based Volunteer Vacations

I have been an international volunteer vacationer for several years and have longed for a reference that focused on the North American Continent. This is a short review. The book is fine and dandy for north america but there are quite a few of us who live in other countries that use the english language. It would have been helpful if the title of the book had been a bit more specific.
